Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language/ESL Language Instructor
A teacher of English to speakers of other languages is someone whose job is to help their students learn English. Teachers of English as a Second Language (TESL) frequently employ authentic situations to facilitate their students' acquisition of the language's nuances. Educators of English as a Second Language (ESL) must be flexible, imaginative, and culturally aware of engaging students from a wide range of backgrounds successfully. TESL often plays multiple roles for students and their families as they adjust to a new country. TESL in public schools may be responsible for students of any grade level from kindergarten through high school. These teachers typically remove their ESL students from the general classroom setting and place them in a separate area where they can work with them in smaller groups or individually to improve their command of the English language. English language learners of varying ages and grade levels may be combined into these smaller groups depending on the size of the school. English as a Second Language (ESL) instructors design and deliver lessons, then evaluate their students' strengths and areas for improvement. In the public school setting, they may instruct an entire class or, more typically, work with smaller groups of students. Teachers of English as a Second Language (ESL) plan lessons, give assignments and evaluate student performance. They might be interacting with students of all ages and walks of life. It's possible that among the adult students, there are those with extensive prior education and those with none at all from their home country.
