This entails the study of one or more of the Romance languages spoken in Western Europe, Central Europe, and Southern Europe as part of a broader curriculum. Philology, linguistics, dialects, pidgins, literature, and their uses in commerce, science, and technology are all covered. French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Romanian, Catalan, and the languages of Hispanic and Latin American countries are the primary subject of academic study in programs that study Romance languages, literature, and linguistics.
