Public Health, General

The Accelerated Master of Public Health (MPH) program offers a concentration in General Public Health. It prepares graduates from various disciplines to improve their communities' health through initiatives like health education, injury prevention, policy formulation, and scientific investigation. This path provides comprehensive instruction in the theory and practice of public health and allows for extensive student involvement in the field. In addition, candidates' professional goals necessitate an interdisciplinary approach that goes beyond the purview of any single School department; hence, General Public Health permits students to draw on the expertise of faculty in many schools. Students in the School's dual degree programs with the College of Physicians and Surgeons, the School of Nursing, the School of Dental and Oral Surgery, and the School of International and Public Affairs have access to the General Public Health Track. In some cases, students on this path may be able to pursue additional professional degrees, such as in law, journalism, or business, for which an individualized, interdisciplinary curriculum is preferred.
