Brazil's Portuguese language and literature program aim to train individuals for careers as Portuguese language instructors, researchers, literary critics, and text reviewers in Brazil. Literature written in Portuguese can take the form of:

Students who take the time to learn Portuguese and read classic works from the language's rich literary tradition enter the multifaceted Lusophone world. They can then become fluent in Portuguese, learn about the rich cultural traditions of the Lusophone peoples of Europe, South America, and Africa, and appreciate the interconnectedness of these regions. Students will master not only the language and linguistics (including phonetics, phonology, morphology, and syntax) but also the history, culture, basic facts, lifestyles, institutions, and literature of Portugal, Brazil, and the Lusophone countries of Africa. On the one hand, learning Portuguese will help students acquire the linguistic competence necessary for careers reliant on communication and communication technologies, such as translation and public service. At the same time, on the other, it will foster critical thinking skills, individual initiative, and creative problem-solving. Students will acquire the fundamentals of a well-developed written and spoken style in Portuguese and Czech through a comprehensive training program that integrates the languages' practical uses, specialized linguistics, and literature.
