Political Science and Government, General
Students who choose to focus on government
as their field of study in the social sciences are known as "political
scientists." Students who choose this major will learn about several
aspects of politics, including theory, foreign policy, and comparative studies.
By the time they graduate, students should have a firm grasp of political
concerns, theoretical frameworks, and the abilities necessary to address
research questions with authority. Doctoral degrees in the discipline and
graduate and professional studies in law, international relations, medicine,
and other fields are available to graduates. Degree programs in political
science and government may go by several titles, and prerequisites may vary
from school to school. Students in a political science major may also be
eligible to get course credit for internships in campaign offices, law firms,
nongovernmental groups, and more. Students majoring in political science,
government, government and legal studies, or any other subfield of this broad discipline
can anticipate studying concepts and theories throughout the field.
