Mathematical Statistics and Probability
The mathematical disciplines of probability and statistics are so intertwined that they are often studied together in the classroom. Probability is the branch of mathematics concerning numerical descriptions of how likely an event is to occur or how likely it is that a proposition is true. The probability of an event is a number between 0 and 1, where, roughly speaking, 0 indicates the impossibility of the event and 1 indicates certainty. The higher the probability of an event, the more likely it is that the event will occur. Statistics (from German: Statistik, Orig. "description of a state, a country"). The study of how information is gathered, stored, processed, analyzed, interpreted, and displayed is referred to as. It is customary to start studying an issue in science, industry, or society by creating a statistical population or model. All the citizens of a country, or every atom in a crystal, are examples of people. Data collecting is planned for in terms of survey and experiment design, and this is just one of the many topics that statistics covers.
