Hospital and Health Care Facilities Management
The administration, management, and control of healthcare systems, public health systems, hospitals, and entire hospital networks are known as healthcare management or healthcare administration. These experts are responsible for a wide range of tasks, such as ensuring that each division functions smoothly, that only qualified individuals are hired, that information is disseminated effectively throughout the organization, that desired results are achieved, and that adequate resources are allocated. In the healthcare industry, there are both generalists and specialists. For example, generalists manage facilities, while specialists oversee departments like marketing, finance, policy analysis, and accounting. Employment in the field of healthcare management is possible with a wide range of academic credentials. A student can earn a degree in healthcare administration from a school of business or public health. Currently, there are healthcare administration bachelor's degree programs available, but employers often look for candidates with at least a master's degree in the sector. In addition, professionals in healthcare management who want to teach at the university level, conduct public policy analysis or take on leadership roles in larger, more complex organizations often earn PhD degrees in health administration.
