General Physiology

Physiology is the scientific study of how organisms normally work. Organs, anatomy, cells, biological compounds, and the interplay between them all are just some of the topics covered by this branch of biology. Physiology can be thought of as the study of how living things function. It investigates how organisms function internally and how they relate to their environment. The study of physiology investigates the interplay and cooperation of the body's various systems to maintain a healthy environment for life. Subdisciplines within human physiology cover a vast amount of ground and are thus often studied separately. Physiology studies can range in scope from the study of individual molecules in cellular physiology to the study of entire organisms and their responses to their environments (ecophysiology).
