Advanced General Dentistry

All students in advanced general dentistry engage in a full-time, rigorous clinical and academic program that will equip them to provide exceptional, person-centered care to a wide range of patients, including those with complex and unique needs. Dental specialists in Prosthodontics, Periodontics, Endodontics, Oral Surgery, Implant Dentistry, and Pediatric Dentistry will lead postdoctoral students and Residents in a collaborative and robust program with specialized facilities and the highest standards for teaching and learning. Patients with complex and special needs are not excluded from the training provided by the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program, which equips residents with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide them with competent and compassionate care. Oral health services for the community are provided by the AEGD Program in conjunction with other divisions in the College of Dental Medicine, benefiting both young and old. Patients with special needs, temporomandibular disorders, facial pain, and oral pathology are among those treated by postdoctoral students and residents as they rotate through different specialties. Pharmaceutical pain and anxiety management is a skill learned and practiced by postdoctoral students and residents.
