The University of Chicago Medicine Department of Pharmacy is seeking highly motivated pharmacy students who are looking to further develop their communication, interdisciplinary and pharmacotherapeutic knowledge and skill. The Pharmacy Student Internship opportunity allows for personal growth and multidisciplinary collaboration, while supporting a team that is dedicated to enhancing lives and being at the forefront of medicine. As a pharmacy intern with Meds2Beds, you will deliver and counsel patients on prescriptions given to them prior to discharge from the UChicago Medicine Hospital. This is a great opportunity for students to work in a large, academic hospital and serve a diverse patient population while gaining valuable experience that will strengthen their candidacy when applying for future jobs and/or residencies.
Essential Job Functions
Delivering medications and providing counseling to all patients who are being discharged with new prescriptions
Providing acute and comprehensive information about medications and addressing any concerns the patient or patient’s family may have
Filling prescriptions in the pharmacy
Retrieving hard copies of prescriptions in patients’ charts
Interacting with members of the interdisciplinary team – physicians, nurses, case management, and social work to coordinate and collaborate on efficient and effective medication therapy management
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician License
Student currently enrolled in an accredited college of pharmacy
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred one year of pharmacy experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting

Job Type/FTE: Registry/Part Time
Shift: part-time/weekends, you may work Saturday, Sunday, both days, or neither day on any given weekend.

In this role, we anticipate that you will generally work approximately 8-16 hours per week. We anticipate that you will generally be scheduled to work the variable shift, & will not be scheduled for on-call shifts. We anticipate you will be scheduled to work 100 % at the Hyde Park campus. The days you will be scheduled are p art-time/weekends, you may work Saturday, Sunday, both days, or neither day on any given weekend.
Must comply with UCMC’s COVID-19 Vaccination requirement as a condition of employment. If you have already received the vaccination, you must provide proof as part of the pre-employment process. This is in addition to your compliance with the Flu Vaccination requirement as well. Medical and religious exemptions will be considered consistent with applicable law. Lastly, a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check are also required for all employees prior to hire.
