ABOUT TIRE REPAIRER OR CHANGER CAREERS

If you enjoy working with cars but lack experience, you can look for work as a tyre repairer and changer. You may already be aware of how to change a tyre. However, there is a lot more to the job when you work, say, at a gas station or an automotive service centre.

Tire repairers remove tubed tyres from wheels and then repair the damage. Tire repairers and changers also rotate tyres to ensure that they wear evenly. Alternatively, they may install new tyres and ensure that they are properly balanced. Whether new or used, it is critical to ensure that each tyre has the proper air pressure.

Whether the equipment is sophisticated or basic, you can expect to do a lot of bending and lifting. The work environment can be claustrophobic and noisy, with fumes from fuel and other chemicals. However, there is satisfaction in providing a service that people require. You can be trained on the job in a matter of days or weeks. However, by expanding your knowledge through career school training, you could be "on the road" to developing more technically demanding and higher-paying skills as an auto mechanic.
