ABOUT SEWING MACHINE OPERATOR CAREERS

Sewing machine operators make up a sizable portion of all apparel industry occupations. They make, alter, or mend clothing. Work is done in a variety of places, such as factories, retail stores, tailor and formalwear shops, and even dry cleaners.

Manufacturers may specialise in clothing or non-garment items such as bedding, towels, or curtains. Most operators specialise in a single operation, such as collars, bindings, or hems, although an increasing number are cross-trained to execute a variety of procedures.

There is no formal training required, although good hand-eye coordination and the ability to sit and perform repetitive activities for extended periods of time are required. The clothing industry is motivated by deadlines and customers. To keep up with client needs, it relies on skilled, dependable operators.

A career as a sewing machine operator might be a great way to break into this exciting industry if you are disciplined and responsible.
