ABOUT RETAIL SALESPERSON CAREERS

Contrary to popular belief, money does not make the world go round. Sales are what keep the world turning, and no one is more important to this process than a retail salesperson. A television commercial can entice a customer to enter a business, but only a real, live salesperson can seal the deal. Retail salespeople are the store's frontline soldiers, and as such, they are crucial.

Not all stores are aware of this. Some companies engage people to just accept orders or operate cash registers. But it is not the point of selling, just as it is not the point of being aggressive or 'pushy.' Selling is about sensing a customer's wants and meeting those needs with attentive, courteous service.

People sense that you have a customer's best interests at heart, and as a result, they trust you and buy from you. Retail sales jobs that pay a commission on everything you sell are the finest. However, every retail sales job provides essential experience. After all, if you're good at selling by the piece or pound to retail clients, you'll undoubtedly do well selling by the tonne or truckload to corporate customers.
