Packers and Packagers, Hand
Career Snapshot
The modern industrial assembly line is a marvel to behold: many goods move at breakneck speed. However, if it weren't for hand packers and packagers, they'd all end up in a pile on the floor at the end of the line. Some tasks are simply not automatable. Many manufacturing lines still rely on humans to visually check and manually pack or package their output.
Many products are delivered to stores in hand-filled cartons at the conclusion of a production line. The work is monotonous, and you must be able to follow the line without being distracted. However, there are almost no educational or other prerequisites for the position. So, if you're hardworking and dependable, becoming a hand packer or packager can be a great way to break into the profession.
