ABOUT GLASS BLOWER, MOLDER, BENDER, OR FINISHER CAREERS

Making glass is an art, a science, and an industry. Glass blowers are experts in a craft that requires strength, calm hands, and patience. A glass tube is heated to the melting point, then shaped using breath or compressed air. The blower manipulates the molten glass using special tools to shape it into the desired shape.

Glass blowers may begin their careers as apprentices to master glass blowing. Certificate or associate degree programmes in scientific glass technology or glass art are available at some colleges. Craft schools may also provide instruction. On-the-job training is available in some plants.

Glass moulders, benders, and finishers are all trained at different phases of the glass production process. They pour glass into moulds, shape it, and polish the surface. Glassware created in a factory begins in the molten condition as well.

However, in today's world, machines manage a large portion of its manufacture. The last touch for both hand- and machine-made glass is an inspection to ensure that the thing manufactured will operate as intended, whether it is to retain water on the dining room table or to hold attention as a work of art.
