ABOUT CONCIERGE CAREERS

A concierge in a hotel, apartment complex, or business building assists guests and inhabitants in a variety of ways. The concierge may take messages, arrange transportation, handle the requirements of handicapped people, address complaints, or process housekeeping and maintenance requests.

If you need tickets to a sporting event or a performance, go to the concierge. It's a critical position for building or hotel management because the concierge may make people feel good or terrible about the establishment. Courtesy and a can-do attitude, as well as a nice appearance and the ability to talk properly, are vital parts of the work.

You cannot be shy in front of strangers, and you must be willing to manage even the most challenging requests calmly. Because this is a public position dealing with people's private needs, companies will thoroughly investigate your background. Experience is advantageous. Concierges are often members of a hotel or building workers union, from which companies recruit new personnel.
