Career Snapshot

ABOUT BARTENDER CAREERS

Bartenders fill beer, wine, and mixed drink orders placed by waiters and waitresses in a restaurant or lounge. Customers seated at the bar are usually treated the same way. Whether through trade school training or personal experience, most bartenders can prepare drink orders swiftly and efficiently, especially during peak hours.

However, because the same brands are accessible everywhere, the most important aspect of a bartender's job is usually creating a cheerful, welcoming environment that motivates consumers to return on a frequent basis. Bartenders spend a lot of time on their feet and rely heavily on tips for a large portion of their pay. Furthermore, half of all bartenders work part-time.

Regardless of time constraints, becoming a bartender can be a really rewarding career for anyone who is genuinely interested in other people.
