ABOUT AGENT OR BUSINESS MANAGER CAREERS
TRANSCRIPT OF A VIDEO
An artist's, performer's, or athlete's career can be like a roller coaster ride. You can be nameless one day and world-famous the next. Having a good agent and company manager is essential for success. A client hires an agent to represent them. The agent accomplishes this through marketing the client's work to industry contracts.
It is the agent's responsibility to handle all conversations with potential employers, from defining working conditions to calculating remuneration. Agents are typically paid on commission, therefore it is in their best interest to obtain the highest possible fee from their clients. A business manager will collaborate with an agent to provide legal and financial advice to a client. This is the person in charge of the client's finances. Earnings collection and deposit, as well as bill payment
Agents and business owners wear many hats. They are promoters, accountants, lawyers, and friends to their clients in various ways. Most agents have a college diploma, and others have law degrees or master's degrees in business.
Strong bargaining skills, as well as solid communication and organising abilities, are required. Experience in the client's sector is also advantageous. Many of the world's most famous people would not be where they are now if agents and business managers hadn't advised and guided them.
